For a headstone or memorial

The headstone plaque

A small stainless-steel plaque that does so much. Contains a QR Code in a choice of styles, laser engraved and lacquered for extra longevity and provided with a 3M adhesive backing. Once placed on the headstone or memorial, anyone who visits can scan it with their smartphone camera and find out who they were, what they did in life, and how much they are loved and missed, and if the family requests it we can put a contact form so visitors can let you know they have been and perhaps share a memory. No app needed: the plaque opens a web page, not the app.

Through your stonemason, or ask us

Let us know your requirements and we can give you a price, or arrange via your Stonemason or Funeral Director.

  • A QR code, not the app. Any phone camera scans it. Nothing to download.
  • 80mm x 50mm, black on stainless steel, laser etched with their name and their own bespoke QR code
  • Self-adhesive backing, the same as monument makers use, for any smooth headstone
  • Presented in a beautiful gift box
  • A bespoke memorial page, designed by those who knew them best: you

Why a plaque

Telling the story behind the name

Have you ever passed a grave or memorial and wondered about the life of the person? So often the information on the headstone is restricted to a name, some brief words and a couple of dates. By placing one of these plaques on the grave or memorial, anyone visiting or passing can find out exactly who they were, what they did in life and how much they are loved and missed.

At eMemorybox we believe every life has a story, and every story should be told.

eMemorybox, Southport

The plaque is modest and discreet, and it sits quietly on the stone. Unlike the eMemorybear and the eMemorybox, it does not use our app: it carries a QR code so any smartphone camera opens it. The page it opens can hold everything: their story, treasured photographs, maybe a wedding video and tributes in the words of those who knew them best. And because it is a web page, anyone can open it. A grandchild in ten years. A stranger who stopped to read the name. This little plaque is such a powerful storyteller.

How the plaque works

A simple and straightforward process

  1. Ask your stonemason, or ask us

Your stonemason or funeral director can supply the plaque as part of the service, or you can order it from us directly. Either way we laser etch it with your loved one's name and a QR code that is theirs alone, and we will present it in its own gift box.

  2. Tell us about your loved one

We send you an easy-to-use link. Choose how you would like the page to look, add the words, photos and videos in your own time, and we check it before it goes live. Take your time. The plaque works the moment the page is live.

  3. Fix it to the stone

Peel the backing and press it onto a clean, smooth part of the headstone. From then on, anyone who visits can point their phone at it and meet the person behind the name.

Will it last?

A code fixed to a stone today has to work in twenty years

The page stays up

Every plaque points at a web address we keep for good. We do not let it lapse, so the code on the stone keeps opening their page.

Etched, not printed

The code and the name are laser etched into the steel, so there is nothing to peel, fade or rub off.

Visitors can leave a memory

If you like, we add a form to the page so anyone who has visited can let the family know. We pass each message on to you by email.

Your words, changed any time

You decide what goes on the page. Open your link any time to add a photo, a tribute, or a correction, and we check it before it shows. The plaque never needs replacing.

What a scan opens

Questions families ask

Before you decide

How big is the plaque?

80mm by 50mm, laser permanently etched in black on stainless steel, and presented in a gift box.

How much does it cost?

Prices are on request. Ask your stonemason or funeral director, or contact us and we will come back to you with a price.

How is it fixed to the headstone?

It comes with a self-adhesive backing similar to the one monument makers use, ready to be attached to any smooth headstone or memorial.

Do visitors need the app?

No. The plaque carries a QR code, so anyone with a phone camera can scan it and open the page. Nothing to download.

Who edits the memorial page?

You do. It is a simple process through an easy-to-use link we send you: choose how the page looks, add the words, photos, video and sound, and let us know when you are ready. We check every page before it goes live, and you can always contact us if you would like help.

Can visitors leave the family a message?

Yes, if you would like. We can add a form to the page so anyone who has visited can let the family know, and we pass each message on to you by email.

Are you a funeral director or stonemason?

We supply plaques to the trade and can fit them as part of a headstone order. See our page for funeral directors and stonemasons.
